Claus Meyer

Claus Meyer is a well known chef born in Denmark. His expertise in the field of food includes writing, hosting a show called ‘New Scandinavian Cooking’ as well as running a restaurant. Noma, his restaurant was voted as the best restaurant of the world in 2010.

 

Claus Meyer recipes are included in his books as well as evident in his television shows. He lectures regularly on culinary matters and serves as an affiliate professor at the ‘Department of Food Science’ of the University of Copenhagen.

 

He is an active believer in using local produces and environmentally friendly agricultural methods. He also strives to introduce Nordic food to the world and hopes to make it popular. Apart from founding the Meyer group which has diverse business interests, Claus Meyer is also started the NordicFoodLab which is a non-profit food laboratory that aims at improving the quality of Danish food.

 

Professional Life Of Claus Meyer

Meyer studied business development from cand.merc international and ventured into a one man business endeavor at the age of 20. He started delivering meals with the help of his bicycle at first. The enterprise soon grew into the Meyers Køkken in 1989 and delivering individual custom meals as well as meal concepts to individuals and business organizations.

 

The opening of Meyers Madhus, comprising of cooking course at Nørrebrogade, Copenhagen was soon followed by Meyer Canteens in 2000 which now consists of 45 canteens employing 250 people all engaged in supplying food to numerous public and private businesses in Copenhagen.

 

He is also actively involved in producing balsamic vinegar from the produce obtained from his own fruit orchards. Meyerfoods, a special range of food products has also become popular all over Denmark.

 

Meyer is one of the owners of Noma restaurant which was awarded 2 Michelin stars and listed as the 15th best restaurant in the world by the Restaurant Magazine in 2007.
