Citrus dip is a dipping sauce made using the juice of the citrus fruits like lemon or orange, along with yoghurt, eggs or whipped cream and lemon or orange rind. The dip enhances the taste and appeal of any fresh fruit platter.

  • One version of the dip is made by mixing together orange juice, lemon juice, grated lemon zest and orange zest, sugar and egg. The ingredients are mixed over low heat till thickened. This mixture is then, cooled and mixed into whipped cream and refrigerated. It is served chilled.
  • Another recipe suggests simply combining lemon or orange yoghurt and vanilla extract. The dip is served with fresh fruits.
  • A white bean citrus dip is made by pureeing together white beans, orange juice concentrate, sour cream, chipotle puree, lime juice, grated orange zest and salt. Diced white onions and chopped cilantro are mixed well into the puree.
  • An Asian citrus soy dipping sauce is made with soy sauce, finely grated fresh ginger, dark brown sugar, sesame oil, lemon juice and lemon zest. The dip is prepared by mixing well all the ingredients till the sugar dissolves. It is served with Jiaozi, which are Chinese dumplings with vegetable and/or meat fillings.
