Chocolate truffles are chocolate-coated French confections filled with creamy sweet fillings. The truffle is stuffed with delicious ganache fillings. The confection gets its name from its resemblance to the vegetable fungal truffle in shape. A large number of chocolate truffles recipes are made in different shapes, such as, spherical, conical or curved.
Chocolate truffle was invented in 1895 by M. Dufour in Chambery in France.

Varieties of Chocolate Truffles
Chocolate truffles are a part of the dessert menu of many cuisines across the world. The American truffles are half-egg shaped and made of milk or dark chocolates and butterfat or coconut oil. The Canadian variety, better known as Harvey truffle, includes Graham Cracker Crumbs and peanut butter. The European truffles with an ‘oil in water’ feel and the molded Swiss Truffles with small shelf life are the other varieties of truffles.
