Black brewed coffee mixed with Dark rum or cacao liqueur is the significant ingredient which adds a subtle sweeter taste.
Chilled heavy cream is whipped along with confectioner’s sugar using an electric beater until the formation of billowy peaks in the cream.
For the final preparation, the cake slices are arranged at the bottom of the trifle bowl, preferably a clear glass bowl with straight sides. The cake slices are gently drizzled with the liqueur and coffee mixture after which chocolate pudding is layered over them. Dark chocolate shavings can be sprinkled for extra zest. Preparation of the bottom layer is complete with the addition of raspberries.
Layers are repeated in the same order and finally topped with some reserved chocolate shavings and raspberries. The trifle bowl can either be covered with a plastic wrap, refrigerated until served or it can be eaten as and when ready.
