Chocolate Mousse Pie

Chocolate mousse pie is a dessert pie   essentially comprising a chocolate mousse filled pie crust. Chocolate mousse is extremely fluffy and creamy whereas the pie crust is crunchy. Both crunchy and fluffy items, together, make a highly admirable dessert.

Chocolate Mousse Pie Recipe: Ingredients and Preparation Overview

. The first step in the preparation of the chocolate mousse pie is to prepare or set the pie crust. Either store-purchased or home-made crust is used. For home-made pie crust, crushed cookies, preferably chocolate cookies or graham crackers can be used; as these cookies and crackers provide extra crunch. Crushed chocolate cookies combined with unsalted butter form a chocolaty crunchy crust after baking, whereas graham crackers require chocolate flavoring done with usage of cocoa powder and sugar in the preparation. Butter is additionally included with crackers.

The crust is set in a baking dish and baked for few a minutes until crunchy. The topping of the crust is prepared by mixing whipping cream, chocolate powder, powdered sugar and vanilla essence. The topping mixture is beaten until frothy and the formation of soft peaks. The more the mousse is beaten, the fluffier it will be.  A frothy and fluffy chocolate mousse is the highlighted feature of chocolate mousse pie.

Once the mousse is prepared, it is swirled on the crunchy pie crust and kept in the refrigerator to chill until served. Garnishing can be done with fresh cherries or shaved chocolate.  The mousse can also be topped with soft peaks of whipping cream..
