Chawal, is the Indian preparation of rice. Traditionally it is cooked in a large pot (haandi). It is a part of the main course Indian meal and accompanies every dish through the course. Chawal is mainly accompanied by daal and a sabji in a simple meal. Dry preparations of chawal include rajma chawal, jeera chawal etcetra.
