Chana

Chana or chickpea is a highly nutritious constituent of the legume family. It belongs to the Fabacae family and makes for a rich source of protein in the Indian cuisine. Chana may again be categorized into two, the kala chana (small black chickepea) and the kabuli chana (the bigger white chickpea). The Chana finds many variations in the Indian cuisine. From delicious salads, the traditional chole (an accompaniment for the Indian bread batura), curries to the powdered form of the gram flour used for making tasty fritters and many other delicacies.
