Cantonese Roast Pork

Cantonese Roast Pork, recognized in Chinese cuisine as Char Siu, is arguably the most flavorful of Chinese cooking, especially because of the favorable blend of spices with roast meat. Simply said, Cantonese roast pork is delectable barbecued honey roasted pork, which is the main entry for a family meal, often eaten cold with other hot accompaniments. Very popular with the locals in China, especially in Hong Kong, Cantonese roast pork is usually served as little pieces, along with a bowl of rice teamed with a cup of hot tea. The dish is also used as the filling or stuffing in steamed pork guns, mu shu pork, pork fried rice etc. Highly distinguished by its red color, Cantonese roast meat is not always reserved as a pork dish, but has its variations in the form of ducks, geese etc.
