Campbell Soup was invented by Dr. John T. Dorrence, a chemist with academic credentials from MIT and Gottington University, Germany. He invented a commercially acceptable way to make condensed soup. The company became one of the leading suppliers of canned soups of the world under William Beverly Murphy, the CEO of the company from 1953 – 1972.

There are around 13 types of Campbell soups sold in the market today. Campbell’s Condensed Soups, Campbell’s Chunky Soups, Campbell’s Fun Favorite Soups, Campbell’s Healthy Request Soups, Campbell’s Kitchen Classic Soup are all different kinds of popular soups from the company.
Health Consideration of Campbell Soup
Most Campbell soup recipes formerly included high levels of sodium. Both the condensed and chunky varieties of the Campbell soups are seen to include high levels of sodium, making them unfit for those on low sodium diets. But the Campbell’s Chunky, Healthy Request comes with lower levels of sodium. The company was awarded a certificate of Excellence by Blood Pressure Canada for its commendable effort in lowering the percentage of sodium in its soups. Today, about 50 % of Campbell soups have low sodium levels.
