Butter Pie

Butter pie is traditionally a savory English Pie from Lancashire. Sweet butter pies are also prepared by some chefs. These pies mainly eaten by vegetarians are also known as Catholic Pies or Friday Pies, as they were originally invented by the Lancashire Catholic Community, to be eaten on Fridays when people abstained from meat. Butter pies were served as popular match day favorites at the Preston North End Deepdale stadium till 2007 by Ashworth Foods Ltd.
