Bulgur, also called bulgar or bulghur is a form of whole wheat that has been cleaned, steamed/parboiled, dried and then ground into grains of different sizes. Bulgur is a precooked grain and therefore requires minimal preparation while cooking. Bulgur has a rich and mild nutty flavor. Bulgur can be substituted for rice as it is higher in nutrient content with more minerals and vitamin B. bulgur is often cooked with the tabouleh, which is a form of salad containing cucumbers, tomatoes, scallions with herbs and olive oil.
