Black Pepper Sauce

 

Black pepper sauce is a thick, brown, creamy, and spicy sauce, which is mostly used in the Southern part of United States. Black pepper sauce resembles a regular white sauce like Bechamel Sauce, but is thicker and creamier in consistency. Black pepper sauce may be used both as a gravy and as a sauce depending on its consistency.

 

Black pepper sauce is best served over pork and fried steaks. It can also be used as an accompaniment to pasta, biscuits, fried chicken, and toast.

 

Ingredients and Preparation

 

  • Ingredients - This sauce is prepared with butter or bacon or steak drippings, milk, cream, pepper, water, and flour.
  • Method of Preparation - All the ingredients are cooked together by simmering them in a pot until the mixture thickens.
  • Serving – This sauce is treated as a dressing for chicken or beef.

 

Black Pepper Sauce  Recipe Variations

 

  • Black Peppercorn Sauce – This rich sauce is served over grilled pork chops, beef and chicken. It is prepared using ingredients like double cream, black or green peppercorns, Worcestershire sauce and brandy.

     

  • Nonya Black Pepper Sauce – This traditional Chinese sauce is used for stir frying pork, crabs, chicken, prawns, etc.  Black pepper corns, sugar, thick soy sauce, oyster sauce, onion, garlic clove, water and oil are required to make this sauce.

     

 

  • Black Pepper Barbeque Sauce – This sauce is used as a marinade for grilling beef or pork chops.  Onion, tomato, garlic, black pepper powder, corn flour, oyster sauce, sugar and water are required to make this sauce.

     

 

  • Rahm Schnitzel – This sauce is served over pork, turkey and veal and is prepared using ingredients like heavy cream, white wine, and black pepper.
     

 

  • Comeback Sauce – This is a traditional black pepper sauce from the Southern part of United States and it is mostly served as a dipping sauce with many grilled meats. Many variations of this sauce are created using different flavoring ingredients. Three essential ingredients which remain consistent in all variations are mayonnaise, ketchup and chili sauce.
