Black Ceylon Tea

Black Ceylon Tea or Ceylon Black Tea is a tea variant from Sri Lanka which is characterized by its citrusy aroma and is used in blends and also enjoyed unmixed. Its flavor and taste vary as per the altitudes. It is believed that this tea variant along with other variants was born due to some impairment of coffee crops in the country. And the tea was introduced from China as a replacement crop. The black tea from Ceylon is also segmented into three categories like its white and green compatriots:

  • Udawatte: Teas produced in high altitudes
  • Medawatte : Teas produced in medium altitudes
  • Yatawatte: Teas produced in low altitudes

Like its white and green variants this tea is also marketed in “Lion Logo” which depicts that the tea is produced in Ceylon and is approved by the Government.
