Beef fillet (also spelt as beef filet), otherwise known as filet mignon in French, is a term used for small portions of soft meat taken from the front part of the tenderloin region of the cow. Also known as tenderloin steak or medallions to the Americans and as fillet steak to the English, this expensive meat is prepared in a number of ways.
Preparation of Beef Fillet
Beef fillet is grilled, pan-fried, roasted or broiled. As it is low in fat content, it is cooked with bacon which prevents it from drying out and adds flavor. Traditionally, this meat is best cooked by searing it on both sides till brown on high fire for a short time and then cooking it on a low flame for sometime. A special way of cooking it is to butterfly it, or cut it through the middle so that the inner meat is also cooked well.
