Baked sweet potato is a delectable side course made by baking sweet potato or yam, slicing the potato and filling it with a mixture of white butter, ground sugar and cinnamon. Baked sweet potato, a wholesome dish, is relished well as a snack.
The best part of the baked sweet potatoes is that, it can be prepared with unpeeled whole potatoes or by mashing the sweet potatoes and then baking it. For the first kind of recipe, the potatoes can be stuffed with meat or vegetables, while in the latter recipe mashed potatoes are mixed with spices and baked further. Sweet potatoes are preferred over the regular potatoes as the former has its own taste and blends well with the rest of the ingredients. Spices like cumin, coriander, chili pepper, black pepper are mixed with the mashed potatoes and lined on the baking dish. Some pecans are crushed and spread evenly over the potato batter and baked in the oven. For a tangy taste some lemon or orange juice can be poured into the mixture. The top part should be crispy while the inner part should be warm and moist.
