Amaretto coffee is made with a shot of amaretto. Amaretto itself is a sweet almond flavored liqueur of Italian origin. It is made from almond or apricot pits or at times both. The amaretto coffee thus also has that same nutty and slightly bitter flavor that he amaretto imparts to it. The drink when served is not really bitter but has the hint of a palatable bitterness to it. That however can be rectified by sugar by those who prefer it that way.
