A1 Sauce

A1 sauce is a special sauce that is used for barbecued meat or fish steaks. The original recipe for the A1 sauce is supposed to have originated in England and the name A1 after that had become a generic name based on the trademark of the company that initially produced it. Commercially produced A1 sauces contain potassium sorbate to preserve freshness. Otherwise the A1 sauce contains tomato puree, distilled vinegar, corn syrup, salt, raisin paste, crushed orange puree, herbs and spices like dried garlic and onion, caramel color and xanthan gum.
