The 3 day Kaiser diet was first originated in 1985. It claims weight loss, body cleansing, lowering cholesterol and boosting energy. There is no research supporting these claims. The primary function of this diet is rapid weight loss. This diet offers no benefit apart from weight loss. To attain optimal results, the diet has to be followed exactly as stated, and any modifications in the diet can make it ineffective. This diet claims 10 lbs weight loss in 3 days. It is carried out for 3 days and then normal routine diet is carried out for 4 days. This is repeated week after week for about 4 weeks.
Breakfast – Black coffee / tea (without sugar or with artificial sweetener), ½ grapefruit / juice, 1 slice of dry toast, 1tbsp (15gm) peanut butter.
Lunch – Black coffee / tea (without sugar or with artificial sweetener), ½ cup tuna, 1 slice of dry toast / 1 oz. of cheddar cheese.
Dinner – 3 oz. Lean Meat, 1 cup string beans, 1 cup carrot / beets, 1 small apple, 1 cup vanilla ice cream.
Breakfast – Black coffee / tea (without sugar or with artificial sweetener), 1 egg (boiled), 1 slice dry of dry toast, ½ banana.
Lunch – Black coffee / tea (without sugar or with artificial sweetener), 1 cup cottage cheese / ½ cup of tuna, 5 saltine crackers.
Dinner - 2 hot dogs, 1 cup cabbage or broccoli, ½ cup carrots or turnip Greens, ½ banana, ½ cup vanilla ice Cream
Breakfast - Breakfast – Black coffee / tea (without sugar or with artificial sweetener), 5 saltine crackers, 1 oz. cheddar cheese, 1 small apple.
Lunch - Black coffee / tea (without sugar or with artificial sweetener), 1 hard-boiled egg, 1 slice of dry toast.
Dinner - 1 cup tuna/cottage cheese, 1 cup beans or cauliflower, 1 cup carrots or beets, 1cup melon, ½ cup vanilla ice cream.
· Only salt and pepper are allowed as seasonings in this diet.
· Unlimited water and non-caloric drinks are allowed.
· Orange instead of grapefruit
· Cottage cheese instead of tune and vice-versa
· Frozen yoghurt instead of ice cream

3 day Kaiser’s diet is a quick weight loss program. It is not a long lasting one. Tendency of the dieter to put on weight later is faster. It should not be practiced too often. The healthier way to lose weight is by eating a balanced diet rich in all nutrients along with an exercise regime.
