Lalu Perhaps you are not aware that water chestnuts are grown in many many countries! I have never seen water chestnuts from India in the US, Europe, Australias, Southeast Asia, etc. I buy fresh locally (California) grown water-chestnuts and they are wonderful! They are a good source of potassium. A half-cup of water chestnuts contains around 350 to 360 mg of potassium. Also the water chestnuts I have seen growing Kerela seemed to be in fresh clean water.....butr things are different often times in Kerela than other parts of India I know. So you can grow your own waterchestnuts and be organic and have no worries! http://www.earthcare.com.au/wchestnuts.htm
