On 59th and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan you’ll find Bloomingdale’s, the iconic department store famous for such historic events as the invention of the hoop skirt, the modern shopping bag and one of the stops on the Queen of England’s 1976 New York shopping spree. Flip burger shares the menswear floor with such labels as Helmut Lang, Victor Rolf and Hugo Boss. It caters to high-end Euro-shoppers and opulent Upper East Side families hoping to keep their ankle biters at bay, while they take a break from browsing the latest fashions. The decor is sparse and light with minimalistic fittings, subtle backlighting, that tightly seats about 70 hungry shoppers. The menu offers signatures burgers, salads and also a create your own burger section where one can mix and match their burger fixings choosing from several burger building materials, such as a unique variety of buns, side sauces and other accoutrements.

Just a week or two ago, Extraordinary Measures, starring Harrison Ford and Brendon fraser was released. This movie is based on a book, The Cure, by Geeta Anand and is about the struggles of a couple who go all out to find a cure for their sons's rare disease (pompe's disease) along with a scientist. And that got me to write this as despite efforts only 14% of Americans know what clinical research/trials are.If you or your family or loved one has a medical condition (say prostate cancer) and you are looking for new/experimental treatments, then you may want to look into clinical trials. Clinical trials are studies done to investigate new treatments and in many cases offer hope to patients who may otherwise not be getting cured from existing treatments. In fact no drug/device can be approved without such studies and by participating in such studies, one can get several benefits such as;1. Get access to latest treatment for free2. Receive expert medical care as part of the study for free care

One of the things I really missed when I decided to move out on my own was being able to go outside and snip the herbs I needed for cooking or just making a nice relaxing tea. I had forgotten how spoiled I felt by only using fresh herbs and enjoying their fresh aroma while I chopped them up or boiled them in water for some tea. We always had cilantro, hierba Buena, oregano, basil, ruda, chilis, lemon/lime trees, nopales, tomatoes, etc…. Pretty much anything that was used for cooking and could grow in a back yard we had readily available. Then when I moved out on my own, all of that was taken away :O(.  I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I would start to make something to eat and the cilantro I bought a couple of days ago had started to wilt. Not good at all! I found myself going to the store almost 4 or 5 days out of the week just to make sure what I used was fresh.

On Grammy Awards Sunday I thought it was appropriate to catch the final day of the Brooklyn Museum’s Rock and Roll Photo Exhibit, featuring the worlds rock stars in various collections by famous shutterbugs. I meandered through Park Slope looking for a pre-museum snack, settling on Bonnie’s Grill a modest little home-style diner located on 5th Ave in Park Slope. With a long counter and a handful of tables, I propped myself at the bar and thumbed through the menu, which included such hits as Buffalo wings, Veggie Chili, and various homestyle dishes.
After a spiritual fix at my local Sunday service, it was time to get my other and more devilishly gluttonous fix for the day. I hopped the N train to 30th Ave in Queens, New York my destination was no other than controversially reviewed Petey’s Burgers. I exited the crowded train and crossed the street and entered the conveniently located “In-Out” inspired burger spot, the menu was simple and affordable with tasty burger combo’s and creamy flavored shakes served counter style by a friendly knowledgeable staff. I ordered the Cheeseburger combo priced at $7.79 and an extra Cajun fire burger for a chaser, I glanced around at noticed happy locals gorging themselves while watching the previews of the NFL playoff games, no doubt hoping to line those stomachs for a heavy day of football related drinking and spectatorship. GO JETS!!
There is something refreshing and spontaneous about going to a restaurant last minute ordering a burger and just deciding to write about it, and today that’s just what I did. I work around the Flatiron district; yes I have a real job! can’t quite make a living scribbling about carnivorous fodder just yet, however I would like to think I am reaching the burger loving audience with my smart and witty banter journaling New York’s best burger hang-outs ? I deliberated over my Friday out of the office lunch with a friend and settled on Bar Breton, this casual off-shoot of Michelin star winner Cyril Renaud. His native Brittany, French inspired menu featured many of his local favorites such as Croque Monsieur, French Beans and Phyllo crusted shrimp and gluten- free buckwheat galettes (crepes).

FOOD AND NUTRITION IN ISLAM"O ye people! eat of what is on earth lawful and good; and do not follow thefootsteps of the evil one for he is to you an avowed enemy. Q2:168The Qur'an contains many passages that give Muslims advice about healthfuleating habits and nutrition.  These passages not only relate to thepreservation of a human being's physical well- being, but also to hisspiritual health.  Encouragement to eat only good and pure foods is combinedwith warnings to remember Allah and avoid Satan.  In this way, Muslims areshown that eating is not merely an action to satisfy the hungry body, butthat, as in all of man's actions, it has an effect on how well or how poorlya Muslim will serve Allah SWT.Since a Muslim wants to direct his activities towards serving Allah in thebest way, the object of eating is to nourish his or her body so that it willbe in the best possible condition for doing so.  In several verses, theArabic word "tayyeb" is used to describe healthful food.  Tayyeb istranslated as "good" and it means pleasing to the taste as well as pure,
