Wine ShoppingHello friends, Im back with more information on choosing the right bottle of wine.In my last blog I had discussed the criterias on choosing the right kind of wine. Now I would like to throw some light on the same.

ACCOMPANYING FOOD:

It means the kind of wine you buy should match with the food you eat.Wines can be sub-classified into dry,semi-dry,medium,medium-dry,sweet,semi-sweet (fruity) and spicy wines.

Wines can be as complex as food. But for a normal foodie the basic fundamental one has to keep in mind is that white wines goes well with white meats and red wines go well with red meats. Here is a quick guide to remember when you go to shop for wine for accompaying the right food:

Dry-Medium dry white- Pastas with seafood, light soups, omelettes, grilled or broiled chicken or fish. Most complex whites ( here I refer complexiety to the wine being nutty, buttery, creamy, smokey or steely) go well with salmon, veal and creamy pasta.Any Australian or Californian whites will serve the purpose.

Medium-dry red- Goes well with spicy chilly-garlic  based sauces, hamburgers.Mexican,Indian cusine food can be matched with this wine.Older reds will go well with any roast meats and aged cheese.

Fruity rose'- Will go with desserts having a creamy texture but not chocolate. Some good mature port wines will go with chocolate flavoured desserts.

In short the kind of food you eat should not overpower the tast of wine.

CLIENTLE:

It means you have to buy the right wine for the right people.More matured wines may not be well enjoyed by younger generations.Look out for old world wines producing countries like France,Germany,Italy,Spain and portugal wines would be perfect choice for older people. For younger generations new world wines producing countries like Australia,America,NewzelandChina and Indian wines may be well enjoyed because those wines are young and more appealing. This is a market research which I have made recently.

OCCASION:

Right wine should be bought for the right occasion. For example: A birthday part could be done with a good sparking wine,An anniversary will do good with a champagne according to your budget requirements.

WINE GRADATION:

Good Old world wine can be graded according to its quality.Look out for bottle labels for AOC,DOC,VDP,Vin de Pays and Table wines. The best quality wines are AOC and DOC and so on.Table wines are the wines suitable for every budget yet affordable.Table wines are good for everyday drinking too.Year of vintage and year of bottling also plays a major role in choosing good wines. The more older the vintage the more better wine.(here vintage year refers to the year of expetional harvest of grapes). Some wines tend to mature after bottling incase of old world wines. So a wine bottled in year 1990 will have more mature and complex taste.

Quality wines can be found in every price range. One way to measure value (price and its relationship to your perception of quality) is to choose a varietal you like, and try that varietal in different price ranges. An expensive wine is not a good value if you don’t like it.

I hope this information would have transformed all the wine lovers to buy the perfect bottle of wine.
