What do chefs cook for their kids?
Haven’t you wondered what chefs cook for their kid in the privacy of their homes? It is not surprising that we expect them to cook extravagantly even when they are preparing something for their own kids. After all we are used to seeing them cook up complicated dishes with ease and flair. Whatever it is that they cook the children are definitely lucky. Let’s check out what some of the chefs serve their kids and how they zero in on these dishes?
Karen Martini
She is a well known restaurateur, TV chef, food writer and, mother of two children. 20 month old Stella and 8 week old Amber. She has discovered that Amber likes variety when it comes to food and so she follows a trial and error process. Some of the experiments are successful while others are pushed away with a "yuck "and a disgusted expression!

Karen oten ends up cooking Stella, her favorite dish- some cold rice cooked with a few tablespoons of water, some frozen peas, some butter and grated parmesan. Karen also prepares heavy breads like pumpernickel bread with hummus or tzatziki. Karen believes that these breads are good for her kids as they are especially high in iron.
Jeff Butler
Jeff Butler, a chef-instructor at The French Culinary Institute has two tiny mouths to feed back home - 4 year old Owen and 1 year old Remy.

Cooking at home for his kids is fun time for the family. Owen loves helping his dad with his cooking which according to Jeff also makes him less picky and fussy about his food. Pizza seems to be the most cooked food at Jeff’s house as it is filing and also covers all the nutritional requirements!
Rachel Thebault
Rachel Thebault is the owner of the popular Tribeca Treats in New York City famous for its baked products. She has a daughter Marin, 2 ½ yrs old, who loves it when her food is decorated and looks pretty. She believes that often, children judge their food according to its appearance.

Rachel uses cookie cutters to cut out her sandwiches or vegetables and often she sends along some baked cookies and cakes with Marin to school. On the cookies she often surprises her little girl with the little messages of love she pipes in with frosting! Lucky girl wont you say
!
Akhtar Nawab
Akhtar Nawab , the chef and co-owner of the Manhattan restaurant Elettaria, has a 2 year old daughter Ela. He obviously uses his culinary experience at home too as he prefers to expose Ela to a variety of flavors and dishes.

Ela’s favorite food is dim sum or pasta and sometimes a little blue cheese. But beyond these she also like McDonalds fries! Guess this top chef just had to give in to her daughters demands!
Seems that the chefs focus on their child’s taste and health while experimenting with simple and delicious treats and a variety of flavors It would be interesting to know what our chefs on ifood.tv cook for their own kids. Looking forward to see some interesting and easy recipes that you guys use
