What To Eat While Watching TV
It’s inevitable that you eat while watching TV even if you are not exactly a couch potato. But you need to be careful eating while watching TV since often that could turn into binging. You could polish of huge buckets of popcorn while watching TV without realizing the enormous quantities of food you have managed to consume. But how can you be blamed after all? Be it your favorite show or baseball, you will be engrossed in TV that you, almost, as a reflex do not realize eating out of the chips canister or popcorn bucket.
That’s where healthy eating comes into play – two birds in one stone. Here are a few ideas to make your eating while watching TV fun and healthy:
Abandon the idea of popcorn or chips while watching TV. By eating those two you are invariably piling up calories. Same with other munchies like nachos should also be kept off the menu.
Try eating healthy alternatives. For instance, you can take a bowlful of olives to the couch. But don’t overdo it since the sodium rich brine in which olives usually come can cause some complications. Otherwise, olives are best sources of vitamins and nutrients and there is no better way to make TV watching healthy.
If you don’t care too much for taste, try sprouts as a TV watching snack. They are rich in fiber, protein and many other nutrients.
Soak a mix of grams and cereals and boil them (or pressure cook) to make a little snack by tempering them in oil and mustard. This is an excellent protein rich option for your TV watching time.
Can you bake cookies? Excellent. Home baked cookies are also an excellent alternative to popcorns and chips. Get on the internet and try various recipes of cookies and use it up on your family during TV time.
How about mixing up a mocktail rather than snacks? Get creative and mix up few juices or alcoholic drinks to make a drink. If it’s summer, make a hearty bowl of gazpacho and serve it for your family while watching TV.
