Long before the usage of mustard as a hot dog condiment in 1904, it was described two thousand years back by Dioscorides for making mustard plasters. This method of treating chest congestion is still practiced today. Its antiseptic properties were recognized by barber-surgeons even before Pasteur discovered the germs that cause infections and diseases. Used In Muscle Relaxing Bath: Add mustard and Epsom salt in your bathwater. Bath taken from this mixture relieves you from muscle pain. It is also used in footwash which brings relief to your tired feet.
Culinary Uses: Mustard is an important ingredient of mayonnaise, vinaigrette, marinades and barbecue sauce; it blends well with the food and gives a new taste to them. Its usage as a condiment on meat is very well known.
