What Is Cooking In White House This Thanksgiving!
The global economy may be in hot waters, but that doesn’t seem to dampen the celebrations at White House that is all set to bring on the holiday season with traditional Thanksgiving favorites. Just like the previous two years, the First Family has zeroed down on an elaborate Thanksgiving meal for their annual feast.
From what the sources tell us, the presidential chefs will be setting up the traditional holiday favorites like roasted turkey and baked ham, two types of stuffing – cornbread and oyster – and an array of side dishes, including greens, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, dinner rolls along with six different kinds of pie. The dessert would include freshly baked pies: banana cream, pumpkin, apple, sweet potato, huckleberry, and cherry. The president’s favorite pick, however, is reportedly the banana cream pie
According to assistant chef Sam Kass, one of the presidential chefs, the spread would be prepared from the fresh yields from First Lady Obama's kitchen garden. Even the honey used for the dishes will be taken from the White House Beehive.
According to the White House, The Obama's will share their Thanksgiving meal with close friends, family, and staff. Apart from that, as many as 50 members from the extended Obama-Robinson family are likely to join the First Family in their Thanksgiving celebrations.
President Obama, who is quite a foodie, said, "Like millions of Americans, Michelle, Malia, Sasha and I will spend the day eating great food, watching a little football, and reflecting on how truly lucky we truly are."
