Weston A. Price

For those who have never heard of Dr Weston A. Price this will be a brief introduction:

Weston A. Price was a highly respected dentist in the 1920s. He and his wife traveled the globe and extensively researched fourteen populations, from the Swiss alps to the Pacific Islands, who were existing on traditional diets. The members of these societies were long-lived and largely disease free.

His work was carried out at a time when these populations still were subsisting solely on their traditional diets. While he was studying these groups some of them were moving to more modern, processed foods and he was able to document physical changes in their dental structures resulting form this change in their diet.

One of the things that he found was that people around the world who were subsisting on their traditional diets generally had no cavities, strong teeth and bone structure, and could easily grow their wisdom teeth without crowding the other teeth.

He also found that women who were on the traditional diets would have a strong healthy baby, but if they transitioned to consuming more refined foods, such as sugar and flour their babies would often have weaker bone structures and dental issues. If the mother then went back to a traditional diet and later had another baby, once again the bone structure and teeth would be strong.

As a result of the extensive research that he did, we have a documented record of the physical changes that societies undergo when moving to consuming refined oils, sugars and other foods.

In view of the widespread problems that western countries are having with fertility and health it seems a good idea to respect what our ancestors once practiced and return to consuming foods that are prepared in traditional ways.

Probably just originated from someone gnawing on a stick of sugarcane! There is a place for sweetness--it is just when it is highly processed and refined that we really start getting into trouble! The history of sugar is sure bloody and wicked as well seeing as much of the slave trade was tied into sugar production... Join the HELLA DeliCIOus FOOD RevOLUtion www.helladelicious.com
