India is full of incredible history and historical monuments...but the first momument that strikes to anybody's mind is The Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal the symbol of love..

which gets propogated through its cool & calm colour of the marble..more brighter than the Moon-light. The world sees the purity & peace in the architechture and beautiful mosaic carved in the monument. A monument which peeps into a deep history of art, culture and Love.

The hights of the monuments takes you instantly to the deep thoughts and feeling..

Location: Yamuna River banks in Agra,Uttar Pradesh, India.

Construction time: 1631-1653

Spread Over: 42 acres
Built By: Mughal Emperor "Shah Jahan"

Built For: In memory of the Emperor’s dead wife "Mumtaj Mahal"
Significance: One of the Seven Wonders of the World

The Taj got listed as ‘UNESCO World Heritage Site’ in 1983 as a universally admired master piece of world heritage.

Taj Mahal is now part of the elite list of New Seven Wonders of The World. According to initial reports received, the Indian monument of love received one of the highest shares of votes in the poll, which was conducted through Internet, SMS and on the phone. About 100 million people had voted in the campaign through SMS and email. The campaign was begun in 1999 by Bernard Weber. And finally on the 07.07.2007, the TAj Mahal was declared the a clear winner.

Above all, the Taj Mahal was a monument to a woman...very well reflecting the beauty and honour of the soul

Indeed, Taj Mahal is the pride of India, and we need to save, conserve and not to pollute it..
All I can now simple say Wah TAj..!..Wah Omit..

The Taj reminds me of a funny experience that happened way back in May 2002. I don't have to tell you how hot Agra/Delhi can be in May!! (Oh God..dont even remind me!) We were on our way to Nepal (my family and myself) and had a stopover in Delhi for a day. Since we had seen much of Delhi previously, we wanted to visit the Taj (our first time) Since we were traveling in an air-conditioned vehicle, we had no idea how hot it was outside. We reached the Taj by afternoon and it was soooooooo HOT. The sun was in all fury. We had to park our vehicle about 1 km away and walk all the way in the heat :( . Then at the ticket counters, there was so much crowd (I guess it was some special day) there we pushed back and forth repeatedly by the crowd. Phew!!! At last we got the tickets but in the chaos we got robbed of Rs10,000 by some pick-pocketer. At the end of it we were so tired, exhausted (due to the heat) and sad. So that was my very first experience at the Taj Mahal. Sad..we could not appreciate its beauty (owing to the circumstances we were in) and after that we made a decision to get back to see the Taj only in full Moon-light when its said to be really beautiful. Oh..by the way am yet to make that second trip to the Taj!!!
