Try these Hanukkah meal recipe ideas in your Hanukkah party menu and offer your guests a plethora of food items to choose from, for the Hanukkah party meal.
Rosemary lemon chicken
Prepare a marinade using chopped fresh rosemary, lemon juice, celtic salt and olive oil. For chicken, use boneless, skinned chicken. Rub the marinade on the chicken and keep the chicken in the refrigerator for some hours until the essence of the marinade seeps deep inside the chicken. This is a lovely dish to add to the Hanukkah party menu.
Egg Salad
One can never go wrong with an egg salad as a choice for an appetizer. Take hard boiled eggs and chop them into small cubes and mix with sautéed onions. Add paprika or other herbs as garnish. Tastes delicious when served with challah!
Mexican Chicken and Rice
This is a gluten free, “rice” item, where grated or finally chopped cauliflower is used as the “rice”. Grilled boneless and skinned chicken is cut into 1” cubes and added to the cauliflower rice. Celery, salt, oregano, grated cheese, cumin powder may be added to impart flavor.
Cheese Blintzes
A traditional cheese item, blintzes are essentially cheese crepes with a filling of different cheeses and maple syrup, honey or raisins added for slight sweetness. A lovely way to end or begin with the Hanukkah meal is to serve these cheese blintzes.
Shrimp cakes
A lovely dish that can be added to the main course or may be served as an appetizer, shrimp cakes use deveined and peeled shrimps chopped to tiny pieces. Mix in an assortment of herbs and spices with the chopped shrimp pieces and roll them into flat discs using almond flour. Fry them and serve hot.
Button Mushrooms
A great choice for the appetizer course, this dish goes extremely well with pastas and meat based dishes. The dish can be prepared in less than 30 minutes to prepare. A marinade for pouring over the boiled mushrooms is prepared using vinegar, pepper, oregano, parsley etc. The result is slightly spicy, hot and saucy dish.
Challah
Traditional Jewish bread prepared using eggs, white flour and slight honey or sugar added for sweetness. The dough is tightly braided into a rope shape. A thin layer of eggs is applied to the braided rope and then the bread is baked until golden. Nuts may be added to the bread to add a different texture.
Cinnamon apple cake
This gluten free cinnamon apple cake is truly sinful. Peeled and chopped apples are processed together with cinnamon powder, pinch of celtic sea salt, agave nectar, orange juice and eggs in a food processor. The batter is then poured into a baking dish and baked in an oven. Served with sweetened whipped cream on the side.
