Some Interesting Southern Traditional Christmas Fare

• Black eyed peas - Yes, the black eyed peas are more like a staple ingredient in a lot of the Southern dishes. When it is cooked, it becomes very soft and creamy, making it a good base for a lot of dishes. You will find them in appetizers, main course dishes, and even as desserts.                           

• Honey Baked Ham - The grand South cannot do without Ham. It is a common sight during occasions like Christmas to see a 8 pound ham roasting in the oven. The honey glazed ham is usually served with potato salad or at times with cornbread.          

• Blackberry Cobbler - The blackberry is a common fruit of the South. It is a common ingredient in cakes, pies, ice creams and cobblers. 

• Banana Pudding - This is a dessert that is made by assembling banana in layers. It is usually served with crisps or wafers.

•  Sweet Potato Pie - This sweet potato pie is usually a dish that is reserved for big occasions like Christmas. So at Christmas you can be sure to find this baby on the dining table.
