Top 5 Holiday Diet Spoilers
Come holidays and it is tough not to get drawn into the holiday celebrations and festivities. If you are on a diet then you need to be aware of these top 5 holiday diet spoilers that may cancel out your efforts of past few days. Avoid these most common holiday diet pitfalls with our quick guide!

Holiday Diet Pitfalls
These seemingly innocuous food items may do more harm to your diet than you may have imagined. Try to steer clear of these holiday diet pitfalls and be loyal to your diet while still enjoying your holidays.
Pot pies
One serving of cream chicken pot pie may contain as much as 1000 calories. Although a hearty meal option for those chilly winters, pot pies are loaded with fat and calories. If you must eat a pot pie, pick a small portion of roasted (and not fried) chicken and pair it with some whole wheat roll or bread loaf.
Munchies and finger snacks
Stay away from the high fat, fried snacks such as potato wafers, pizza, nachos, ribs etc when you are on a diet. Winter is a season of inactivity and munching a packet of chips while you cheer your favorite team at the game day, may throw your diet off track. Prefer eating roasted or baked veggies with a low fat dip sauce for those food cravings. Also keep a track of how much you eat by eating from a plate rather than directly from a buffet.
Chili bowl
That delightful, bowl of chili may be housing as much as 500 calories. Fat laden beef and sausages that are often added to the meat stew have high calorific value. Try using smaller portions of lean meat and toss in an assortment of vegetables and low fat cheese to make a bowl which is relatively lower in calories.
Those thick, cheesy warm soups are a delightful treat during the cold winter evenings, but delicious as they are, they are also loaded with high calories and fat. Rather than eating the cream of potato soup or chilli cheese cream soup, it is better that you help yourself to vegetable or broth based soups. Vegetable soup would be filling and would also be lower in calories and would help you maintain your diet regime.
Beverages
When the cold, snippy wind is blowing outside, the little delights like a hot cup of cocoa, eggnog or a hot toddy may seem like a blessing. Replace these delightful calorie rich hot beverages with a cup of equally delightful, steaming hot green tea or a couple of light beers to take away the cold chill.
