Each of us will have our own versions of top 10 soups. But have you ever thought about what would be the top 10 soups in the history of mankind? The Stew, a congregation of Chicago Tribune’s good eating and dining staffs, has arrived at the top 10 soups list. The list has apparently been arrived after thorough and painstaking research on the topic, hours of tasting sessions and discussions with the staffers at The Stew.

10. Sopa Azteca (tortilla soup)

 

The tortilla soup is one of the best soups Mexican cuisine has offered the world. The strips of tortilla floating around in the chicken broth infused with a hint of lime can be sinful and filling at the same time.

 

9. Chinese Hot & Sour Soup

 

No soup list is complete without a Chinese soup and the hot and sour soup ranks high. It has pork, tofu, Chinese spices and tree fungus. Need you ask for more?

 

8. Bouillabaisse

 

Bouillabaisse contains the goodness of seafood with ingredients like shellfish, vegetables and flavourful spices. The three main kinds of fish in Bouillabaisse are scorpion fish, sea robin and European conger.

 

7. Carne en su jugo

 

The second Mexican soup on the list, Carne en su jugo is loaded with beans, bacon, bits of carne asada in veal broth. Not only that, the soup also has radishes, avocado and green onions.

 

6. Rhode Island Clam Chowder

 

Considered to be ‘true chowder’, the Rhode Island Clam Chowder has quahog, potatoes, linguica and clams. The clams in the chowder make the broth briny.

What can be more appetizing than the creamy, superbly flavored soup made from the broth of crustaceans? Nothing other than lobster bisque. Not only lobster, but also crab, shrimp or crayfish can be substituted while making bisque.

Devoured by people in Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Nordic Countries, United Kingdom and United States as Split Pea soup, Split Pea with Ham is traditionally American. No other soup can compete for the crown and the combination is simply out of this world.
