Frosting Ideas For White Cakes

Plain white cakes, we agree, are really goo. But they are also boring and old fashioned. Pep them up a little and give them a new lease of life. Here are some frosting ideas, if you do not know anything about frosting white cakes. Now a simple way of doing these will be with shop bought cakes. You don't have to feel guilty about it, because there is still a lot you can do.

For instance, you can choose to decorate the cake like a watermelon. Now that is a frosting idea. While making the cake frosting add a little food coloring. Mix this in two portions to get red and green colored frosting. Apply this to the cake, making it look like a watermelon, and use chocolate chips for seeds.

Another simple frosting idea is to make white cake icing, and decorate the icing one the cake with fresh fruits like strawberries or blueberries, before it is all dried up. This way, you will get the goodness of the cake and the fruits in every mouthful.

Alternatively, you can dip a portion of these fruits into chocolate sauce, and use them as decoration on a frosting white cake. This way this will be a three color cake - white, chocolate and fruit color on the cake.

Another frosting idea for the cake would be to recreate a beach scene. Again you can use food coloring to the get the beach blue, the sand yellow and the likes. You can add some crushed crackles for the complete sand effect. You can even decorate these with cake topping figures like tiny umbrellas and figurines. The same technique can be used for frosting white cakes and creating a picnic scene. Use green color for the grass and random colors for the picnic mat. Might sound like one silly idea, but it is sure to be good fun.

With a couple of gel decorators frostings, it will be fun to decorate a frosting white cake in very many designs. Random colors like blue, yellow and red can be used to make a firework cake. Designs of the fireworks in the sky can easily be drawn up with the gel. Another frosting idea would be to get colored frosting and to get the beautiful designs like stars and polka dots done using colored icing spread with tubes.

The whole point of baking a cake and incorporating these frosting ideas, is to have fun. So as long as you enjoy the baking and the decorating process, it doesn't matter even if the work is not 'bakery perfect.'
