Top 10 Dieting Sins

Eliminate snacking on high calorie carbsEverybody is susceptible to these dieting sins. Let’s see what the top ten are:

Substituting the real stuff

A lot of people think drinking cans of vegetable soup is just as good as eating the vegetables themselves or drinking canned juice is the same as eating the fruit. That’s where you are going very wrong. It’s always better to eat the vegetable or fruit in its natural form rather than making juice or soup out of it.

Eliminating Carbs

Carbs CAN be good for you as long as you take the right kinds. Complex carbohydrates (those rich in whole grains and fiber) help in filling up your stomach and you don’t tend to snack so much or get those pangs of hunger later during the day.

Overeating

Many people feel that they should feel not just comfortably full but actually stuffed after a meal. People also are inclined to think that they can eat bigger portions if what they are eating meets the guidelines of their current diet -- such as high protein and low carb, which of course is not true.

Eating too little or not at all

There are a lot of people who also think that by skipping meals or simply having a piece of fruit or a small salad will suffice. But you are actually harming yourself by not eating a minimum amount of calories. It is important to eat at intervals to keep up your energy.

Not planning your meals

If you do not take out time to plan what you are going to get for your lunch, dinner and snacks in between meals you are more likely to reach for the candy bar or the bag of chips whenever hunger pang strikes you.

Not keeping a food diary

Its very important to keep a food diary where you record every little piece of food or drink you consume. This will help you keep track of when you are likely to snack on junk or binge and give you a better idea on how to avoid those sins.

Not exercising

You have to get your body to move and do some sort of physical activity on a daily basis. It's important not only for weight loss but also for maintaining overall health and cardiovascular functioning. Working out helps your body in so many ways that it would be a crime not do to it.

Going cold turkey

Eliminating foods that you love to have but they tend to add weight to your body, is probably not a good idea. If you are a chocolate or cheese lover, don’t completely give it up. Allow yourself to have some of it now and then in small pieces. It will help you keep your cravings at bay and will make the diet easier to stick to.

Giving up easily

Losing weight takes time, it does not happen overnight. Remember to stay strong and stick through the diet.

Dieting Alone

It’s always good to have a parent who can help motivate and give you company through this period. You are less likely to quit or cheat as there is an extra support with you.

I hope now you are aware of the top dieting sins which we all often commit. So from now onwards take care of these and lose weight in healthy manner.
