Tips To Succeed At New Year'S Resolutions
Here are a few tips to succeed at New Year’s Resolutions which may appear fool proof but is totally influenced by how badly you want to keep them.
New Year Resolutions come and go like those passing years. Some stick to them and some don’t, some make new and some old but there is always a resolution floating around at the back of our mind. It could be anything from losing weight to quitting smoking, saving money or hoping to be more generous.
Doesn’t it sound familiar; the same quest to reduce weight, those same resolutions year after year but fails because of so many reasons. Yet the desire to have another go at it lures one to make those New Year’s resolutions again. When it comes to ‘diet resolution’ here are a few pointers:
- Celebrate Small Victories: Every small loss in terms of weight and every step forward in that direction should be celebrated to motivate one. One step at a time works.
- Resolving and Failing: One needs to make a pact with oneself and make sure it can be accomplished incrementally with all the ups and downs. Making a pact to change one’s life style rather than just have a desire to do so.
- Support From Family and Friends: Seeking support from friends and family is one way to go. With their help it is possible to achieve some of the goals and with professional help even faster.
- Making a Commitment: Focus, energy, time are the essential ingredients and making excuses of marital or financial problems might not work.
- Short Term Approaches: This might not work and a long term commitment works very well. Small incremental steps will motivate and is realistic too than sudden changes in diet or weight loss.
- Enjoy Healthy Food Choices: The choice is ours to make. Making those conscious healthy choices is important to maintain a balanced diet and well being mentally and physically.
- Avoid the Company of People Who Push Food On You: You know yourself better than anybody else and the last thing you need is people who say it is alright to indulge.
- Take It As A Challenge: Motivations from a health point of view is important. None of our resolutions might work perfect but it is important to keep the perspective in mind.
- Identify Problems and Find Solutions: Knowing what might actually be the cause and resolving it works better by planning efficiently
- Setting Realistic Goals for a week, a month or a year encourages one slowly and steadily instead of taking quantum leaps into it and feeling disappointed.
So this year hoping and wishing every person out there making a 'Diet resolution' has it all going good. these pointers would help for sure.
