 Preparing Low Fat Enchiladas

  • You can put together tasty, healthy enchiladas at home using the left over. However, if you aren’t too happy using the salty tortillas, you can substitute them with healthy options like kale chips, dried veggies, whole-grain crostini or crackers, pita chips, water crackers or anything that is crispy but devoid of excessive salt and oil.
  • If you preparing meat enchiladas, opt for chicken over beef or turkey. Beef or turkey may be cheaper, but chicken is certainly leaner. Picking your meat wisely could make a good deal of difference.
  • Also, when opting for the spices, ditch the prepackage bundle of spices as it contains excessive sodium. Instead, preparing your own spices at home using ground cayenne pepper, chili powder, etc. would add the desired amount of spiciness to your meals without making them unhealthy.
  • Instead of adding gobs of ketchup to your enchiladas, go for a homemade low fat salsa, prepared with tomatoes and peppers, and very little salt.
  • As for the cheese, go for mozzarella, pepper jack, etc. They are considerably low in fat and makes for a delish choice.

Healthy food doesn't have to be boring. Just simple modifications can make your dish surprisingly low in fat.
