- The most important procedure before cooking frozen prawns is to thaw them. In order to defrost them, remove the prawns from their packet, and dunk them in a bowl filled with water. Cover the mouth of the bowl and leave the prawns in the refrigerator to defrost overnight.
- For a quicker way to thaw prawns, roll them tightly in waterproof bag and douse it in a sink full of cold water. Your prawns will be de-iced within an hour.
- Now you can safely remove the shell and de-vein the prawns before cooking. When cooked, prawns are likely to turn pink in color. To boil prawns, fill a saucepan with water, add some sea salt to it, and bring the water to boil. Add the prawns, cover the pan with a lid, reduce the heat, and let the prawn simmer until done. Once prawns start to float above and turn opaque, you can remove it from the pan.
- You can also grill prawns if you want. Just marinate the prawns for a few hours, put them in damp wooden skewers, place them on aluminum foil over hot grill or over barbeque coal, and cook until done. Brush the prawns with a little olive oil and then sprinkle them with salt, pepper, garlic, and grill for some more time.
