Tiny Fries, But They Make Me Look Huge!

Whom Could I Probably Blame, My Hands?

I know they are tiny, but the carbohydrates in them overact and contribute the majority in making me look over-blown! Every time I walk towards the counter to order my take away pack of those crispy, fluffy and tiny wafers, I try to make up my mind to not do so. But even before my mind and brain could coordinate, I would have grabbed a pack or two and would have swallowed one and must be half way through the second. But why, fries taste so good that I eat one and live with this lingering desire to grab another?

Whom shall I blame, is it my own instinct or shall I comfortably put in over the chef who first found that double frying could make potatoes crispy outside and fluffy inside? Yes, be it the French fries or the flat, wafer thin potato chips, I never take to ponder over the journey these fries must have been taken to finally make me feel so good before eating them and utterly depressed after eating them. Everywhere I step in I find a pack I love to grab, be it the cinema halls, the supermarkets, restaurants and yes at home too.

Is there a better way I can have my favorite tiny fries and still feel great and not sinful about the calories I just pumped in? I would love to hear one!

Bake em instead of deep-frying. Well..ofcourse, when you buy french-fries outside, they are surely deep-fried (adding the extra saturated fats and calories)So, you can probably try this. Buy some sweet potatoes or may be red potatoes. Peel and slice them like french-fries. Soak in ice-cold water for about 30 mins. Remove and dry on a kitchen towel. Pre-heat oven to 400 F. Spray some non-stick cooking oil on to a baking dish, arranges potato slices and bake for 25-30 minutes overturning in between. Sprinkle with salt and pepper or all-spice. Enjoy. BUT controlling temptation is the Key!

Yes Snigdha! Controlling my tempation is something I always fail to do! Everytime I am ready for a dine-out, I ask my huby to choose a restaurant that serves good french fries, although now I have somehow managed to restrict that. There had been days when my dinner meant just French Fries!!! As I told, I know it is bad and so wanted to know a healthy alternative to try. I think I must give your ideas a try. Thanks for taking time to write this for me. :)
