The Two in One Apple – Literally!
What are the chances of finding an apple that literally gives you a ‘two in one’ taste and look?? Well, it is more than 1 in a million…!

The apple that looks like as if its made by slicing and sticking two halves of a green and red apple together gave Ken Moorish quite a surprise as he picked it off his tree in the garden. For the curious foodies out there, the fruit was from a golden delicious apple tree. It is also speculated that the fruit may be sweeter on the red side, since no one had the heart to eat it nor would Moorish allow so!
Horticulturists hold that the bizarrely colored apple is the result of a random genetic mutation. Known as a chimera it is an instant where one of the first two cells has developed differently giving rise to one half of the apple being different
It is said to be an extreme mutation which generally doesn’t remain stable or recur on a regular basis. There have been occasional cases of people and photographers reporting cases of such bi-coloring in flowers, fruits and leaves. This apple certainly seems to be the ‘blue lobster’ of the fruit kingdom.
I bet you haven’t seen anything like this in quite a while but if you have… share it with us – pictures, links, stories and the like!
