The Big Christmas Lunch!

The Finale.

Lasagna Done

So after the preparation and the appetizers, finally it was time to make the real thing.

Making Lasagna

So the big deal was to make lasagna. All excited to be donning the hat of the chef today (i really dont know how to cook ) things begin to go wrong from the start. The kitchen oven is not working. The guests are due in 1 hr and the oven is not working!!

Thankfully a very old portable oven was there and it worked. So after the drama, began the real cooking I followed Vikas Khanna's simple and awesome Lasagna recipe video, almost in the same sequence and proportions. Since we are were using a much smaller oven, the ingredients were halved.

Step 1. So first you brown the meat (half beef, half veal) with some garlic and salt, pepper. Then mix in the spaghetti sauce.

Lasagna Cheese Spread

Step 2. Next is preparing the cheese spread. Mix the ricotta, the parmesan and the mozzarella with 1-2 eggs and some more pepper and salt and mix it well till you get a really nice spread.

Step 3. Thats it, you just have to do the layering. Cover the oven tray with foil, spread some olive oil and a layer of the sauce.

Step 4. Layering. Remember - its pasta, then sauce and then the cheese layer. Repeat 3 times to get a really rich layer of lasagna

Step 5. Top it with mozarella and parmesan. Cover with foil and put in pre-heated oven (350 degrees) for 30 mins

Step 6. Finally remove the foil and let it cook for another 15 mins to let the cheese really crust and turn golden brown

The lasagna turned out good. Just a tad dry which means that you must add more water in the sauce because the pasta really does absorb a lot of it

Stuffed Goodies

And then we made some stuffed baked goodie. See below
