Most of the teens are choosy about their diets. The fast food culture is catching up swiftly with the teens. Now- a- days teens are keyed to act like robot, so most of the time they are in a chase to secure their future, and tend to ignore the necessity of having proper food. The cases of heart attacks and other serious health scares are increasing amongst teens. Here are the prime three reasons, which tell us why teens end up choosing bad food habits:
Starving and Fad diets: Most of the teens are lured to believe in the “sculpted body" concepts. Beauty pageants and films have played a key role in influencing the mindsets of teens and youngsters upto a large extent. Every next boy or girl wants to style themselves as their favorite film actor or actress. And when they begin modeling themselves around their favorite film actors and actresses, the first thing that crosses their mind is to adopt their screen idol's food habits. In the pursuit they end up making bad food choices such as starving themselves or copying their food choices. The one thing that they don’t understand is “A food item that may work for one body may not work for the other”. It is high time that teens should understand that any diet that just focuses only a few food items are always dangerous. Teens should always try to opt for diets that suit their body types. So the next time when you hear about macrobiotic diets or easy weight loss diets, be sure that silent death is lurking in the corner.
Affinity towards fast foods: Most of the fast foods are marketed targeting the kids, teens and youngsters. The fast foods are laced with artificial tastemakers which appeases to our taste buds and teens are easily drawn towards them. But one thing that teen fast food eaters don’t realize is that fast foods are like balloons crammed with fat and dangerous calories. Most of the taste makers used in fast foods are dangerous and act as slow poisons. The alarmingly increasing rates of health scares amongst adolescents and teens are partly due to fast food addiction.
Soft Drinks: A study conducted amongst American Youths indicated that soft drink consumption rate has steeply increased to 56% from 37% within the two decades- 1978-1998. Soft Drinks manufacturers have always relied on smart marketing skills to lure more and more youngsters to try their products. Soft Drink manufacturers have faced harsh public scrutiny about the chemicals used in the manufacturing and preserving of the drinks, still their popularity refuses to wane. Because all kids, teens and youth are still in awe of soft drinks.
Parents can play active role in helping their children to make the right food choices in their growing years, alongside pushing them to face the rat race.
