The Hat Restaurant

If you come across any retro neon signs featuring a chef’s toque and the slogan “World Famous Pastrami” on the road, It surely is The Hat Restaurant. Without any second thoughts, you could drive into one of the most famous Hamburger restaurants in America and gorge on the scrumptious food. To know more about the Hat, peruse through The Hat Cafeteria Review that follows.

Foundation of the Hat

The first Hat restaurant was opened in Alhambra in 1951. In 1981, when the original The Hat was on the brink of being demolished, it was bought by the Conzonire family of San Marino. The family owned the C & J Foods Company Inc., under which the restaurant chain currently runs. The restaurants are located at across ten locations across America that includes Los Angeles, Brea, Glendora, Lake Forest, Monterey Park, Pasadena, Rancho Cucamonga, Simi Valley, Temple city and Upland.

The Hat Review

  • The signature dish of the restaurant i.e. the Pastrami sandwich or pastrami dip is a favorite among the customers. It comes along with a French roll embellished in mustard and pickle and nearly 0.5 pounds of meat. The customers swear by this dish and though the restaurant is termed to be slightly more expensive than the average fast food restaurants, the huge portions of food supposedly compensate for the prices.
  • The Hat offers a lot of specialties like the roast Beef, Bar-B-Que Beef, Chili Tamale, Hamburger and Pastrami Burger, sandwich varieties like avocado sandwich and side orders like chili fries, potato salad, onion rings and drinks to go with these.Hamburger
  • Recent customer reviews suggest that the quality of the food at The Hat has gone down. According to a recent incident the customer felt that the the BBQ beef served, contained nothing but dry roasted beef along with a stale bun sprinkled with some sauce.
  • One of the features on the restaurant is the only take-away facility provided. There is no dining in facility and seating arrangement at most of the restaurants and for those who would like to quickly grab a bite in the restaurant, paper plates are provided.
  •  Some people like the attention provided at the restaurant would love to repeatedly visit to have the fixed price lunch made using the local produce.
  • Since the food provided is freshly made, the service at times becomes quite slow. For those who are in no hurry and enjoy a meal in a laidback atmosphere, The Hat is the perfect place to hangout.
  • The Hat is not a good option for those who like to eat healthy .The food served is delicious but full of grease and no diet food is available.
  • Even though The Hat in south California is famous for Pastrami, some customer reviews about the Pastrami served in the Upland location have not been so good. It is said to be too salty and greasy and the seating capacity is said to be limited as far as catering to the number of customers in an uptown area is concerned.
  • Even though the burgers and fries are a customer’s delight, one cannot vouch for the gravy served at the Hat which is mostly thick and has a burnt grease flavor.
  • The crunchy bread crumbs with a soft interior of juicy onions called the onion rings will surely surpass your expectations but the quantity of the food is quite a concern if you are conscious about not consuming grease enough to block your arteries.

For those of you who would love to have a ‘fulfilling’ experience, The Hat is a must visit eating joint. The food is quite tempting but should not be converted to an everyday meal to avoid any health problems in the long run. An occasional bite of the pastrami, though, is a fair indulgence!
