Salad For Your Supper MenuBefore getting into supper menu, let’s know the difference between dinner and supper.  The dinner is a meal eaten earlier around 2 pm to 5 pm whereas supper is always taken later than dinner and it is usually eaten between 7 pm and 11 pm. But this differs based on the countries and cultures.  In the Unites states dinner is the evening meal taken earlier and supper is eaten late in the evening. But in Australia dinner is referred to the main meal taken in evening and supper is taken later in evening which is usually snacks and other foods.

 

Supper menu ideas should include foods which are light so that you won’t feel too heavy in the late evening. It doesn’t mean that you would run out of option. You can include tasty and family friendly food to your supper menu. Some supper menu ideas are give here for you.

 

Salads 

Include many salad varieties to your supper menu; these are light and also used as side dishes for main items. You can serve lettuce based salad is topped with candied walnuts, cranberries, and chicken. Pasta salads with cheese are also good choice for supper. Broccoli, olives, tortellini tossed with Italian dressing is a perfect salad for late evening; it is light but very satisfying pasta salad. Also try bow ties combined along with walnuts, cranberries, tuna and little mayonnaise.

 

Sandwiches

Sandwiches can be made light or you can include meat, cream cheese and other items to make it a grand treat. If the supper replaces dinner then you try to make it bit heavier.  American sandwiches or cheese burger sliders can be served for informal occasions. Also include pesto and mozzarella on top of ciabatta bread, and baked or grilled chicken with red peppers. In case you are planning super menu for any specific occasion, then prepare sandwich according to the chosen theme.

 

Seafood 

Seafood items are best suited for supper as they are light and easily digestible. Starters like shrimp and oysters can be served along with sauce. Grilled lobster and soft shell crab can be the main course. Seared tuna steaks and grilled salmon are the other light diet options.

 

Chicken

Grilled or baked chicken can be included in your menu. Chicken ala green is one good choice that is made using vegetables, celery, zucchini and pea pods. It goes well with brown or white rice. You can also go for chicken garden stir fry prepared using chopped vegetables like carrots, broccoli, pea pods and onion.

 

In supper menu you can include meat, however try to avoid fatty meats as they would be too heavy for supper. Light and tasty foods are the ideal choice for supper menu.
