It has been found that most of the people experience health problems during the holiday time.  You can stay healthy during holidays with these 11 steps.
 

Be a choosy eater: You may get restless on seeing too much spread on the table, but be wiser to choose the food that suits you the best.  You may be allergic to specific foods, so avoid going for them even if the host compels you to try some.

Attend those events where the hosts don’t force you to eat this and that. Always remember that more than just fun and enjoyment your main aim should be staying healthy during the holidays.

 

Have a light snack before you head for a party: To avoid over munching at the party try to have some light snack before you leave the home.  The light snacks taken during the day time help to boost your metabolism and keeps your hunger level in check.  You can go for something as simple as a slice of apple, carrot, celery or handful of almonds. You can stay healthy during the holidays and after only and only if you plan something beforehand and workout accordingly.

 

Go for some healthy salad or light, vegetable based soup: Instead of going for salads with high calorie dressing or cream-based soups, go for a healthy salad or light vegetable based soups.

 

Make a healthy dish for a potluck party: Nowadays potluck parties are in full swing.  And if you are nursing an aim to stay healthy during holidays, then you should ensure that you are cooking something healthy for the potluck party (one which you can eat without a fear).

 

Go slow while eating: Don’t go on stuffing yourselves with everything on the table. Instead go slow with the food. Scientifically it is proved that it takes almost 20 minutes for the stomach to signal the brain that you are done with the food.

 

Carry healthy snacks and lunches with you: Don’t get carried away with the festivities.  Most of the people try to steal something from the holiday leftovers and pack that for the lunches. Don’t follow that because it only leads to agony. Always carry light snacks and nutritious lunches to the office.  Avoid tasting every holiday candy or baked treats that are passed across over the office tables.  This is one of the most important of the 11 ways recounted here to stay healthy during holidays.

 

Go even with food portions: In order to stay healthy during holidays it is always wise to follow portion plate principle. The portion plate principle suggests that vegetables should cover half of your plate, whole grains should cover quarter plate, and another quarter should be covered with lean protein source.

 

Avoid fried foods: Holiday is another name for enjoying fried and fatty foods.  And many of us find the fried treats irresistible, but if you are damn serious about staying healthy during holidays then you should go for poached, grilled, baked and steamed goodies.

 

Go for light and calorie- free beverages:   A holiday season is about joy, fun and bellies. Most of the people find it hard to get rid of their “beer” bellies that have grown on them during holiday season. The beer bellies not only bring uneasiness, but also threatens to dampen your spirits. In order to avoid a beer belly and staying healthy during holidays, please add spritzers or calorie-free sodas to your drink.

 

Don’t ditch your exercise plans: If you are too lazy to hit a gym after a night of hardcore partying then keep yourselves moving with some lighter exercises during day time. You can buy some exercise DVDs that will help you out with some indoor exercises. Remember that staying healthy during holidays is not as easy as some of you might have presumed.   

 

Don’t overeat: Many people presume that holiday means overeating, that’s not true. They depend on the holiday excuse to throw the healthy diet out of the window.  Chalk out solid plans to stay healthy during holiday season.
