Fats: Fats are also equally important to maintain a healthy nutrient balance in your body. Just like carbohydrates and proteins, even fats play an important role, since it is the largest reserve of stored energy that can be used for various activities. Saturated fats, unsaturated fats and trans fat are the three types dietary fat source. The main sources of saturated fats are found in meat, egg yolks, yoghurt, cheese, butter and milk. Unsaturated fats include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats that are ideally found in plant food sources such as olive and canola oil, avocados, fish, almonds, soybeans and flaxseed. Trans fat is yet another source of fat that is created when an unsaturated fat is made into a solid.
