As claimed by a recent research study presented at the American Association of Cancer Research, Philadelphia, regular consumption of soy products may reduce the chances of breast cancer in young women.

Soy and soy based foods, such as tofu, are rich in salts such as polyphenols and isoflavones. These salts have been known to reduce the risks of medical conditions such as heart related diseases, diabetes, high cholesterol and even cancer.

The study was based on the findings and results collected from 683 women who were suffering from breast cancer and 611 women who were healthy. The study showed that women who ate products rich in isoflavones were 30% less prone to developing invasive breast cancer condition. Pre-menopausal women who followed a diet rich in isoflavones, had a 30% less likelihood of developing stage 1 breast cancer, 60%  reduced risk of developing stage 2 breast cancer and as much as 70% lesser chances of developing a lump greater than 2 centimeters.

The researchers concluded that eating an isoflavones rich diet had a definite linkage with reduced and treatable breast cancer conditions. However, this linkage could not be established and confirmed in post-menopausal women.

Soy can be eaten in many forms such as soy milk, soy flour, soy oil, tofu etc. Soy may also be used as a substitute to dairy products.  Soy may  prevent breast cancer from developing in the body so take charge of your life now and make soy based products a part of daily diet.
