Now, sandwiches aren't just about some loaves of bread and some vegetable fillings, there is so much you can do with them. From incorporating sauces, cheese, cooked fillings and meat. The options are aplenty. Finger sandwiches on the other hand are smaller and is served with cocktails, as an appetizers or snack. These are also great tea party treats.

They get the name finger sandwich because of their shape. They are cut into small strips like the human finger, and the width varies from 1-2 inches- 4-5 inches. They are small and compact and can be eaten with your fingers. That could also be another reason why they are called the finger sandwich.
Simple Tips To Make Finger Sandwiches
Normally, finger sandwiches are made with chicken salad filling, veggies, meat paste, eggs or cucumber slices. The bread crust is always removed before preparing a finger sandwich, and then they are cut into small strips. Sometimes the sandwich is also cut like a triangle. The triangle shape is often given to cheese paste sandwiches. Rarely, these sandwiches are also cut into decorative shapes like circles, flowers or oval shape.
You can make finger sandwich using green olives, cucumber, chopped pecans, pineapples, mayo and cream cheese. Mix the cream cheese and the mayo, and separate it into four parts. Now mix the first part with pecans, the other with pineapple, the third with cucumber and the forth with green olives. On a slice of bread spread the first mix, and top with with another slice. Add the second mixture on top of slice two, and repeat the process until you have a layerd sandwich. Garnish them with parsley if needed. Cut these up into small fingers and serve them at a party.
You can make another sandwich using chicken, mayo and chopped onions, mixed with some crushed pineapples, chopped celery and pecans. Fill this up between bread that has the crust removed, and cut it into smaller squares.
You can make the same with cucumber if you want, peel, grate and squeeze out the water in the cucumber, and mix this with grated carrots, mayo and cream cheese. You can add some garlic salt and seasoning salt to this mixture and use it as a filling for your sandwiches. Cut them into small triangles or thin strips.
