Smoked Beer – The New Flavor This Season
Americans love their beer and this is evident in the types of beer available in America right now. However, nothing could prepare you for the smoked beer, which is the new flavor this season. Pubs and restaurants are stocking up on this beverage, which is, for Americans, another way to keep the chill at bay. With world temperatures dipping incessantly, this smoked beer could well be the answer to their chills.
1) Not Just A Sample
Those who think that smoked beer is all about tiny, sample-size bottles in supermarket aisles are wrong. This beer is here to stay and it is evident in many establishments pitching in to sell it to their regular customers. Some of them are ChurchKey, Birch & Barley, Engert, and Bamberg. Even brewers are discovering the benefits of this new taste, as discovered by The Ithaca Beer Co. as well as Rogue, who, respectively, turn out a smoked porter, and a Smoke Ale as well as a spicy Chipotle Ale.
2) Long-Standing Tradition
Smoked beer has a characteristic aroma, which comes from germinating the barley, instead of the industrial process of regular beer, over smoldering logs. The smoked beer is basically a result of an experiment conducted by beer enthusiasts as one of the leading experts on the subject says, “People are really experimenting with smoke in their beers. It is something that’s almost kind of comically mundane to the history of beer brewing because open flame was the way you created heat, and we know that beer was being produced at least 6,000 years ago.”
3) From Barbeque to Beer
America is crazy about its barbeques and with smoked beer, the country seems to have brought together two of its biggest passions. So much so that recipes are available, which teach interested Americans to cook smoked beer with their favorite barbeque. Now can it get any better? Smoked Beer tasting parties are the new trend this season, as people wait for the chill in the weather to go away.
America has a long history of beer and barbeque, which is often reflected in its festivals too. Smoked beer may be just emerging on the beverage scene but it is here to stay for a long time, even after the sun is up and the warmth runs through your veins. In case you have already tasted smoked beer, write in to share your experience and if you have some delicious smoked beer barbeque recipes to share, we are listening.
