A Dish In Your Side MenuMain dish are usually the highlight of any meal, however side dishes are equally important as they accompany  entrée or main course. You can include various dishes to your sides menu. Besides complementing the meal, it adds variety to the meal. You eat these dishes alone or along with the entrée or main meal. Find some of the dishes to make your sides dishes interesting.

 

Pasta 

Delicious macaroni and cheese are much liked by everyone starting from kids to adults.  The main dish is well complemented with cheesy bacon or super saucy macaroni.  Pastas when served with sauce are good side dish option. You can include sour cream, bacon carbonnara and chives to your sides menu to accompany a wide range of meat variety. If you want to try something different in pastas, then go for couscous from North Africa. Couscous with Moroccan spices, herbs and Mediterranean vegetables are great when eaten with lamb or veal.

Rice

Rice can be served as side dish that includes curry rice, baked rice, cheese and many more. You can prepare a lot of variety of rice like Coconut rice, mock wild rice and cumin rice to add to your sides menu. These are tasty inexpensive side dishes as rice won’t cost your more.

 

 

 

Potato 

Potato based side dishes are very popular around the world. All the dishes starting from simple mashed potatoes to sour cream scalloped potatoes go well with main meal. These delicious dishes can be made using frozen potatoes and fresh potatoes. Sour cream gives you many dishes with potatoes like sour cream mashed potatoes, sour cream creamy potatoes and sour cream cheesy potatoes. Baked potatoes also a good sides dish option. Include garlic and herb potatoes that are spicy and filling, this is extremely good when served hot or cold.

Salads and Vegetables

Salads and steamed or baked vegetables are the other dishes to pair up with main meal. Baked or steamed bowl of vegetables are good with meat, chicken and fish. Roasted vegetables are tastier and crispier, the heat and oil gives it a special flavor and enhances its natural sweetness. Salads are quick and easy dishes. It uses fruits or vegetables or both and cheese and cream as topping. Tomato cheese salad, marinated vegetable salad, broccoli salad, black and avocado salad can be added to your sides menu.

 

Based on your preferences and dietary restrictions you can create your sides menu. In case you want to cut down calories opt for fresh fruit and vegetables salads, however tasty options include pastas and potatoes with cheese.
