Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has been voted as Asia’s sexiest vegetarian by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). According to the sources, Shahid won this crown by a significant margin of votes while his ex-girlfriend Kareena Kapoor lost to the Taiwanese actor-singer Barbie Hsu by a small margin.

Shahid Praises Vegetarian Diet

Shahid will be soon seen in an advertisement of the animal rights group where he will urge people to turn to vegetarian food. The ad is titled "Chicks Love a Vegetarian" where Shahid will extol the advantages of a plant-based diet. Ace photographer Atul Kasbekar has shot this ad.

Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian’s Comments

Shahid said he felt great to have been felicitated for something which is so close to his heart. According to him, being sexy is a subject of perception but being a vegetarian is a subject of choice. He further added that he turned vegetarian because he loves chicks... cows, fish, pigs and other animals too. He is immensely happy being a vegetarian and does not believe in killing animals merely for his taste buds.

Other Contenders

The other nominees who lost to Shahid and Barbie include Mongolian singer Nominjin, model Maggie Q, Taiwanese music legend Yaya Meng, Bollywood actor Mahima Chaudhary, Hong Kong pop star Faye Wong and actor Stephy Tang.

According to PETA’s Asia-Pacific Director Jason Baker,  turning vegetarian is the greatest thing one can do for animals, the planet and one’s health.

I personally feel that this poll also broke the myth that fitness can never be achieved by eating a vegetarian diet. What do you think?
