How To Use Rice For Skin Care
Rice is a staple food item in many countries but not many are aware that it is also excellent for skin. This is because rice is packed with Vitamins B and D which are essential for keeping skin and bones healthy. It is also rich in niacin, riboflavin, thiamine, iron and dietary fiber. Each one plays its own crucial role in keeping skin glowing and healthy.
Eat Rice for Beautiful Skin
Eating a bowl of rice is not only a delicious prescription but also a skin-friendly one. A bowl of rice every day can keep your skin nourished from within. However, the type of rice you pick for consumption becomes very important here. Although more than forty thousand varieties of rice exist across the globe, they can be divided into two rough categories: whole grain rice and white rice. White rice is low in nutrition because it goes through extensive processing in which the bran and husk are not retained. Whole grain rice, on the other hand, is not subjected to such extreme form of processing.
Hence, eat all whole grain varieties of rice as frequently as you can. Get creative and prepare numerous rice dishes to keep your taste buds pleased while keeping your skin noursihed.
Apply Rice for Great Skin
Rice Water – An Excellent Toner
Rice water has been all the rage in many Asian countries for a long time. The secret lies in its high concentration of PABA or Para Aminobenzoic Acid. PABA not only acts as an excellent natural sunscreen but also helps in soothing sun damaged skin.
To prepare your own rice water soak a handful of rice in filtered water. Let it stand for about 30 minutes and then start rubbing the rice inside the water as if you are cleaning it. The water will begin to turn cloudy. Do this for 3-5 minutes and then drain rice water in another bowl. You can do this every day to get fresh rice water before cooking rice.
Soak a cotton ball in this water and apply all over face and neck. Do not wash for at least 30 minutes. Apply this excellent toner at least 2-3 times a day for best results.
Rice Powder
Rice powder is excellent for enhancing complexion. Moreover, the allantoin present in rice acts as an excellent anti-inflammatory agent.
Rice Powder Face Pack
Take a food processor or electric blender jar and combine together 5 tablespoon powdered rice, 1 teaspoon honey, 7-8 rose petals and milk as per requirement. Process all the ingredients to form a smooth and thick paste.
Wash skin and apply evenly to face and neck. Allow the pack to dry completely and then dampen fingers in milk. Start scrubbing off the pack by massaging in gentle circular movements with your fingers.
The combined action of rice, rose petals and milk will have a powerful lightening and brightening effect on your skin.
Apply this pack every alternate day or at least once in three days for best results.
Do not wait anymore! Head to your kitchen and make yourself some rice water, rice pack and a bowl of rice. Youthful and radiant skin is just as far as your kitchen!
